USCIS has issued a formal notice that the initial registration deadline for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for eligible nationals from Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone has been extended from 5/20/15 to 8/18/15.
The three countries were initially designated for TPS based on the ebola outbreaks there. Liberia was previously a TPS country for many years, and after a long period of TPS designation was given a status called “Deferred Enforced Departure.”
Now that Liberia is again designated as TPS-eligible, its nationals present in the United States should register, even if they previously had Deferred Enforced Departure and/or are out of status.
